Surrender!
Did you get an ADSL splitter from BSNL ?)
Rj11 cables two and rj45 cable at least one.
Go to bsnl and buy a Type II modem
with WIFI and 4 lan ports.
Cost Rs 1600 /+ 10% taxes.

Or get it on rent for Rs 80/PM with a security
deposit to be billed. ( refundable if you return the
modem in WORKING condition !)

See this web site for technical details.
BSNL BROADBAND MAIN MENU
Probably you will get siemens sl2 _141 or Utstar WA3002-G4
or ITI DNA A211-I. All are identical ( get installation CD also)
OR
AN AdSL modem for about Rs 1500/= with CD and USB port.
Later a WIFI router for laptop use for about Rs 1500 to Rs 2500/=
Or a 3-in-1 ( like BSNL units) for about Rs 3000 to Rs 4000/=
Netgear/D-Link/Linksys/Buffalo/Ibaton( local) etc are some models.
Feedback about the modem/router you obtained.

I don't have any of the user ID's or passwords they had given me!Cheers, Nitin

Did you pay BB /telephone bill for past four months ?
Do you have an active telephone connection ?
Call your exchange CC and ask for user ID and PW.

If Yes above, and the modem settings are not disturbed,
connect to phone line and try. ( If it was " always On"
mode earlier )
If you had used a dialer: back to BSNL CC !
Mention modem details in next post .

Hope my 8000th Post was useful to you !!!.

Ho Yes absolutely your 8000th post was really helpful. I think I am in the right direction now.Yes for all the above qs. I would call them & ask for a new ID & Pswrd. I would give you the modem details in a while

Conenct the Modem and check your LAN it should be 100MPS, when you take a cursor to that place it should show 100MBPS.
Then Open inernet explore:

http:\\192.168.1.1
User name :admin
password:admin
select the Modem settings click on configuration, for that you need to enter your BSNL server ID example:al12346578@bsnl.in,
this will be created against your Land line number, Its is better to call to customer support executive, that is
1800-424-1600 ----->24/7 they will help you,
Dont install the Drivers at first time itself.

Is there any thing let me know

I meant what is it that I have to do now to get the net connection to my laptop configured, In-fact I don't have any of the connecting wires with me (I guess its the RJ 45 or RJ11) but I thought as this modem is wireless, I can go without any of these connectors.

Appreciate your feedback

got the old modem activated,
The old modem is WA3002-g1.
You got new userID and PW from BSNL just now .
(You were using BB connection for about 8 months and
it was disconnected for 4 months for non payment of bill.

Now you say you don't have Rj11 or
Rj45 cable and want to use the modem/router/wifi
in Wireless mode.
"modem activated" do you convey that you simply
switched it on and want your laptop to get connected to
Internet in wireless mode ?
How about entering new userID & PW somewhere ?
Anyway
Connection:
Telephone junction RJ11 cable>>ADSL splitter ==>>Modem Port
======>>>>>>Rj11 cable to MOdem ==--RJ45>>> to computer
Ethernet or LAN PORT
Get one pair of rj11 cables ( twin lead wire with connectors
at both ends . The cable is used for telephone connections
also)
An 8 wire cable RJ45 with connectors at either end .
These are needed to first connect to make settings
in the modem.
WA3002-g1 ADSL MODEM (Type-II) MENU
WA3002
confirm set up is made..

Nope they have not given me any user ID & pswrd, they configured the modem settings I guess. Some facts on why I disconnected & "its not because on non payment" as you have mentioned:I disconnected the broadband as my bro got his connections done (Apparently he used to work from home then, & the bill was claimed from his office) this made me to disconnect the service which I had then. Now that he has shifted, I want to use the modem which I have given the model number on top.I hope this helpsAnyways thanks for your suggestions...PS: O/P - Sorry for hijacking your thread

presume you are getting connected to internetin Always On" mode and can surf. You should get three sets of ID and PW( contact JTO or CC of your Exchange )examples: set One :UserID abc345yt@ bsnl.in PW xyz12345Needed to change the password later.Set two :USAGE Portal ID crn98765112009 PW passwordhttp// data.bsnl.in to check usage verify tariff plan/password change .Set three : Email ID: say luck123now@ bsnl.in PW qr345rty
