i want to run ubuntu and adsl2+ 220 bx modem, wil it work????i dont hv lan card , i connect to net using usb cable and 220 bx modem i gt wid airtel. 🙁 🙁

Wont work with USB as USB needs drivers.. Get a LAN card..

shipit.ubuntu.com finally sent me the (free!!!) ubuntu cd's.... popped it into my amd64, and the livecd was running super smooth.ok, here's the important part: my amd64 machine is connected to airtel's 220bx by usb. forgetting that fact, i absentmindedly ran firefox.... and even though the connection was usb, everything worked great! ok, haven't tested torrents yet, but just the fact that firefox ran so... so transparently, was great.so maybe ubuntu+220bx usb is possible.

it cant be possible as usb needs drivers and the drivers that airtel gave us is for the windows

but it is possible that device is supported by linux tooo with builtin drivers...

Even if it is not natively supported..there is a way to use the windows drivers in Linux .For that you have to install Ndiswrapper .The newer versions of Ndiswrapper support USB connectivity.
