Hi, I recently (last night) purposely by mistake reset the modem Beetel 220bx,and then tried getting it bakup up was able to do it but what i wondered was i did not up load any firmaware in to it where as the airtel guy who had come for the installation did.So i wondered what firmware actually is.
 
Firmware is kind of a software that runs the hardware , this type of program is the 1 which interacts with the hardware directly.
 
Right i get that some thing like a driver,but then how am i able to use the modem without re installing the firmware after i reset it.
 
Its already there when u reset it! Just that the airtel guy may have upgraded it to a newer version. And the firmware stays after resetting. So no problems there. Anyway, you can always get the latest version at http://www.geocities.com/airteldsl
