It did not work for me. Applied online and then waited for a month. Visited Exchange and they were not aware of my application. Applied in written and got connection in couple of weeks.

Yup, I applied online too. However, it was almost a month before they responded via phone asking if I really wanted the connection.

This was in September 2005 though, maybe their service has improved since.

I guess calling 1500 is a better idea to get a quick response. MTNL is still not advanced to handle online booking in an smooth way.
