Why to use gsm data card or usb modem

Why we should use data card or usb modem,is there any speed difference between them and edge enabled mobile phone.What is the advantage of these modems.A MOBILE PHONE ALREADY HAS MODEM.

As I know we can call and receive calls through data/usb card.Rates are already mentioned on Airtel web site.Check it.

The latest laptops dont have a PCMCIA slots so they have to use USB dongles.🙂

i guess because u dont need batteries, so no need to keep recharging.
