is BSNL going to give broadband on telephone lines
and is that possible?

this link says that they will provide 10Mbps(they say 140 times dail up) connection on telephone line

is that actually possible?

DSL works through telephone line and gives u pretty good speeds in megs/sec. i am not sure about the maximum.india would do good if companies tries to deliver broadband through powerlines.

Why 10mbit/s? Because from jan or feb BSNL(atleast in blore) is going to start offering TV over DSL to its customers. Out of the 10mbit d/l, 6-8Mbit will be dedicated to TV and the remaining for internet. But I doubt speeds for internet will go above 512k. Also don't expect phone(VOIP) because BSNL will not cannibalize its phone services.
