Strange as it may seem, Nintendo is deploying a free, nationwide Wi-Fi network, well before Google. For now, it's a game service. But there's no reason why in the future it couldn't be used for the Web, email, and data as well.

w00t! Wifi is here to stay! BTW I am short on bandwidth so I didn't click on that link. But can you tell me if they are using WiMax or Wifi?

They do call it WiFi, but with current standards of tech reporting, can't trust them that much.
