Hello friends,Is it possbile to connect phone wire directly to pc/laptop and use internet connection by using PPPoE setup in network connections?
 
no. you can connect only dialup connection with the setup you asked !
 
why iam asking is .... i have home 1000 plan and when power goes down...can we use internet with only phone wire connecting to laptop
 
you can use dialup @ 64kbps MAX. you will be charged separately for that ! check the above link ! You cant use Broadband !!
 
/members/sreekant/Good question. Laptop works on battery pack up. So you need a back up power supply for modem/wifirouter..Usually an UPS is used. If UPS ( Uninterrupted Power Supply with a 12 Volt battery usually) not possibleDepending on the ,modem you can have a seperate battery backup for the modem. ( mention model )As stated earlier only NETONE will work with direct telephone. connection.usually there will be a built in dialup modem in the laptop.Broadband signals need the ADSL modem.
 

The signals from phone line are analog.....and your computer needs digital signals to understand,though your laptop may have a built in 56k modem....it cannot do the job of a router..thats why u need to demodulate the incoming analog signals !!!
