Hi,I think my home500 plan is very slow.I get average speeds of 20-25kpbs.Maximum I get is 45kpbs.Should I tweak my modem or something?Please share your speeds too. :huh:
 
hi.. get avg. rates of 32KBps.. wid peaks of 36KBps
 
Hi , How do u people Check ur download speed? like " downloading..... somefile.exe @ 24kBps........"most users get confused by the speed shown in the save window or the download managers. The Speed Quoted by the service provider is in kbps - "Kilo Bits Per Second" where as the download managers show in KBps - "Kilo Bytes Per Second".1 Byte = 8 Bits1 kilo bit = 1024 bits1 Kilo Byte = 8 * 1024 Bits = 8192 bits256 Kbps = 256 * 1024 bits = 62144 bits62144 bits / 8 = 32768 Bytes / 1024 = 32 KBpsdo the math and chk it out

I have two dataone connection one for office (512k bussiness plan) and second one for my home (256k Home plan) i am getting similiar speed both of side around 256 kbps or 30 KBPS. at my office side i never reached above 30 KBPSi think BSNL persons making us Fool.. 🙁
 

hey, I think even i am getting lowest speed.i am getting between 25 to 30 and i saw polls for 200 and 256 kbps also.i was shocked.anyone can suggest a solution for this.

Dont worry.As said before, the 200 and 256 are Kilo Bits per second.The speed you see is kilo bytes per second.
1 kilo byte = 8 kilo bits to technically you are getting almost the same speed as the others.
 
People are confusing kbps with kBps... BSNL is offering 256kbps which is 32kBps and I generally have a steady connection of 30kBps (240kbps) and above which is very fair, considering that with VSNL on a rated speed of 512kbps, I could never go beyond 38kBps (384kbps)... atleast BSNL does give the speed which it promises 🙂

Actually BSNL gives more than fair.
I recieve speeds of 45 to 50 kBps sometimes.Thrice 1 recieved 75 kBps speed!Now isnt that superb!
 
Sometimes u may get such surprises, that is due to a sudden spike in the connection. Even i used to get it. But it will not last for long time. May be for a few minutes.
