Today is 14th of sep. and by this time every one would have got the bill for BSNL for the month of aug.After readings pupudada's post i m sure every one might have got worried about the bolling issues. So i want every user of BSNL to post their bill amounts and thier opinions on it and also include the amount of data transfer (night and day)I too got the bill of BSNL but this time there was no chages included for dataone. SO i called up 1600-424-1600 and asked them so the cc told me that initailly they were charging the rent in advance while from 16th they are not charging the rent in advance but after 1 month of use , so he said that the rent of this month moght have been waived off and asked me to confirm with my local exchange. i called up my local exchange and the person said that he will contact billing dept and inform me tommorrw (Note: i have used the NU offer and downloaded more than 2 gigs in that time)

I just got my broadband bill yesterday and it was for Rs.2065 which is for the extra mbs used alone. I don't understand the extra mbs as i have not downloaded more than 1024 mb in the month of august but one mistake that i did make, was that a few times in the month i extended the connection beyond the 8 am deadline as i thought that only the mbs after 8 would be accounted for in the bill and i noted the extra usage everytime and counting that did i reach a figure of 1011 mbs.And, another thing that i noticed was that my bill had two columns for the month of august and it said the following:
1. Billing Aug2005
Plan No. H500
Total MB 40
Free MB 40
Net MB 0
Amount 0
2. Billing Aug2005
Plan No. H500
Total MB 2233
Free MB 512
Net MB 1721
Amount 2065
Now, after reading the above i understood that they have charged me for first 15 days and the next 15 days separately since they changed their plans. But what is amusing is that they split the 1024 free mb into two halves irrespective of whether you have used it or not and not even transferred the remaining mbs to the other half of the month.
I live in Hyderabad and would like to know whether anybody else from another city has experienced the same problem.
And lastly i called the helpline last month to ask how the night downloads were being accounted for and i got a reply that we have a system in place that would exclude the mbs downloaded during the 02am-08am time limit.

pupudada i advise you to wait for the hardcopy of the bil.tejasdq i guess you have to approach the higher authorities this time. I dont know excalty where but you ask the local exchange for that .Even i live in hyd so keep your proceedings posted so that i can also have an idea to which dept. to appraoch if something goes wrong with my bill
BSNL has divided the month into 2. So 1st to 15th and 16th to 30th. My usage was 1300 Mb but I was not in town till the 18th of August. According to them my excess is 755MB = Rs.900+ even tho my TOTAL usage for the month is 1300MB. I agree that the excess 300 Mb is chargeable but how did they change the billing system without informing the customer??Effectively my free Mb has become 500 Mb. Sadly, I have not kept screenshots of usage.After speaking to their DGM, he says that this is the billing method that has been ordered so they have no say in it. After explaining that I have not used even 1 Mb from 1st to 15th they are unable to suggest/offer any solution.

This is a real bomb. Should I stop using NU? OR this prob is only for Aug due to introduction of NU from 16th Aug.
If BSNL does not have the software or resource to get the billing work okay should not announce such unlimited schemes and then charge the customer.

hey friend, the problem has got nothing to do with the month of august. even if the bills are splitted into 2 halves, still my excess usage remains roughly 40mb (see my other post re: billing woes)... as per my calculation they are charging for the entire usage (night included).. only way round this, that i can see, is to talk with them to change the bills as per the records shown in their portal.. otherwise go to the consumers forum 😵
I also got the same bill this month. My billing has been split. I will be going today or tomorrow to chew the CO's ass. I have already talked to airtel about the new connection. They will be coming to the house tomorrow to give the new connection. Airtel's offer- 500 rs- installation, 500 rs- refundable security deposit. No charge for modem since I have my own modem. 128k ul or 256k ul. No other charges.BSNL is showing its true colors now. Bastards.
had a look at airtel bb forum. The issues there are similar. people are talking about unlimited till oct end. also night usage story is there. I guess all marketing teams moer or less allign with slight edge over others till others innovate. This cycle goes on.
didnt get the dataone charges in my bsnl bill this time so i called up the cc. They said that prev the were charging the rent in advance and since 16th of aug they are not collecting rent in advance but after a month is completed so the cc told that if my charge didnt usage didnt exceed 1Gb then i wudnt get the rent, so i guess i have been exmepted from biling discrminancies (i did d/l aprox 2gb in the night time). I am from hyd circle and . Guess hyd billing servers are in placeAnother thing is that i advice all of to fight against this discrmincancies and take all sorts of action possible.Writing to the local newspaper is also a good option.Lets get this thing in public and put BSNL in all sorts of prob

Ha do not take it lightly. They will say many things and in the end you will be in trouble. Why not make it black and white.
Send them a letter and also state you cannot be charged for a huge bill in one shot. They might add the usage in the next bill. So make it black and white!
srrao,Your bill was 594 for 256 kb? Is this unlimited and in all cities? Some plan details please, nothing available from the Airtel site. I'm paying 1000+ for a phone I don't want and awake till 2 AM to start downloads.Plus being charged an extra 1000 for exceeding 1 Gb by 300 Mb. 🙁
