Why dont use the windows pppoe service that will be good for you.
tip: go to control panel>network connections
click on create a new connection
then follow these steps
Click Next
Then Connect to the Internet
Then Setup My Connection Manually
Then Connect using a broadband connection that requires a username and password
Then give the isp name, username and password
In the last step check the box which displays add a shortcut to the desktop
Finish
Just keep the modem turned off?Or, if you just want to do admin stuff on the modem but don't want it to connect, why not just unplug the phone line while you're doing that?
