Apple iOS shows Airtel as 4G, Jio as LTE

All Airtel SIM on all iOS devices show "4G" on the top right corner. All Jio SIM on all iOS devices show "LTE" on the top right corner. Unlike the US (where 4G is not necessarily LTE), Airtel 4G is actually LTE; I even have VoLTE calling.

Does anyone know why Airtel shows up as 4G and not LTE; the technical reason behind this?

PS: I have travelled in many countries and all 4G networks show up as "LTE" on my iPhone, Airtel is the only network I have found till now which shows "4G"

It's based on the carrier profile which gets installed when you insert the SIM. Basically Airtel wants it to show up as 4G instead of LTE, its something they can customise as they desire.

On my iPhone 5S, Airtel and Vodafone show 4G while Idea (surprisingly on Vodafone's network itself) and Jio show LTE. As Varkey pointed out, it's due to carrier profiles. Btw, can anyone tell me why in the freaking hell BSNL sims don't register FaceTime or iMessage?
