I can see that BSNL provide a UPS along with FTTH connection.why? Does ONT modem require uninterrupted power? I don't have UPS and I usually turn off ONT modem with power switch..Is it ok?

@Joyous that is outdated price/webpage. Your LCO will charge you some installation charges and cost of latest modem device maybe in the range of 2-3k depending on wiring distance/cost to them.
@varkey totally agree UPS is optional. I said it because VOICE won't be available during power cut. Anyway as @Rajneesh Rana said "
So if you need internet/voice during power cut then you should use UPS else it's totally optional.
