Most BSNL Broadband FTTH Bharat Fiber Plans now have daily FUP limits (Update: 777 & 1277 now have monthly FUP limits)

the larger problem with per day plans is that if you have a regular job and your main consumption is only during weekends... you are forced to get a expensive plan with higher daily usage just to make use of the data on two days.

with monthly data plans, they can go for a low end plan and use the bandwidth allocated to them as per their requirement on weekends.

daily usage plans would be fine if they carryover unused data to next day till the last day of the month.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly.

I was hoping to move to 4k content but this daily FUP change has thrown a spanner in the works. Good thing I didn't go out and buy a 4K TV in a rush 😀

These are the issues with my BSNL connection.
  1. Twitter is slow
  2. Flipkart My Account & My orders inaccessible.
  3. Transdroid has become inaccessible.
  4. Even Semi Private trackers like Pornolab are blocked.
  5. Except NIB, none of the BSNL staff including JE knows zilch about FTTH connections. So customer service is rather inexistent.

@Shubham you can extrapolate the amount of GBs required per hour for streaming.

FOr Amazon its around 7 GB per hour, and for netflix (at 25 mbps) it will be around 10-12 GB per hour of viewing.

that data consumption is likely to be very safe assumptions. all of these companies optimize videos using multiple algorithms for different parts of the video. so the actual data usage is much less compared to what they showcase as estimates. a movie like avengers with fast action would definitely take more data compared to a simple drama movie with long scenes. and of course animated movies would take even lesser data.

@anand777 I think they have restored the earlier plans of monthly FUP.

But it is hard for me to believe BSNL responded with concrete action so quickly 😂

Edit: if this is true I am applying for Rs. 777 plan tomorrow itself. Hopefully I can get the plan.
