Connectivity to sites/servers outside of India should be improved now!

Hi guys,

Excitel has increased its Upstream capacities towards Airtel and TATA and reduced capacity to other Telecom which was not performing well recently and is not so we call connected globally.

This should lead to better connectivity to the outside world and reduced latency and improved speeds.

Can you confirm if you feel there is improvement in last 4-5 days and what is your type of use where you see such improvements? Screenshots will be appreciated.

I can see huge different in terms of traffic from International bandwidth, I generally go Plex streaming and I am having bufferless experience now.

Traceroute from YISP network to Excitel network.

Pings are improved by ~9ms, and I can see links are not congested at peak times as well. Above traffic is going over Exchange, and when I rerouted the traffic from our network (YISP) to Excitel over TATA (as both network as TATA as upstream), Pings were dropped by another 10ms and was giving ~141ms constant and could max out my connection as well.

Twitch streams are practically bufferless now even when viewing at source.

But torrents and downloading content from non-peered websites is still pain in the a**. I download scene releases that run more than 20+GB in size. For the first few GBs downloading content from USENET, private trackers and link-removed runs very well. But as soon as it hits the limit (which I'm still trying to figure out), speeds gets reduced to mere 400kbps.

So unlimited downloading is definitely a sham, since torrents that are peered by their local network 10.xxx series and downloads from peered CDNs such as Cloudfront (AWS), Google Cloud, Akamai (for Steam, and other EA titles) works really well. As soon as you start downloading from their non-peered partners, you'll definitely start hitting some hidden bandwidth quota.
 
can confirm. twitch is working flawlessly now but i am having ping issues to middle eastern servers. for some reason they get routed through eu ( london) and then back to middle east resulting in 300+ ping while it should be around 90ms. i dont know if this is fixable .

Can agree with this. Faced this issue recently when downloading an old torrent which was seeded extremely well but it was not locally cached on their 10.x.x.x server. Initially was downloading at almost max speed, but after a while (about 20-30 mins later) , it reduced to < 1 meg/s.

I've noticed something similar trend on the Steam though.

Steam download works fine for some minutes like 20-30 and then it looses the speeds and goes to as low as 5-10 Mbps. I've to restart the download after that.
