Lets get together and Tweet to BSNL for increasing FUP ...

I know a little workaround for avoiding FUP.

PS: I'm sharing this now as it seems that the BSNL plans, and also other ISP plans have gone very cheap. This is not hacking, BSNL is already aware of this and there's nothing they can do for ADSL connections, maybe.

I have been using BSNL BB for about 6 years. Surrendered and got it reconnected as I was away for college.
Earlier I was on 1745 ULD plan. 8Mbps up to 30GB. So, what I did:

  1. I kept track of the data usage using a python script
  2. as the FUP was about to expire(nearing 30GB), I switched the ADSL power to a 12V battery with 9V step-down, so as to avoid any power interruption.
  3. power cycled the modem, also installed a fan for active cooling
  4. and started my scheduled download.
  5. As the modem was constantly on, the data rate wasn't reduced even after it crossed 30GB FUP.
  6. BSNL disconnects every user after 24Hours of continuous usage.
  7. After which the speed gets reduced and the FUP notices pop up.
So, 24hours of continuous download at 1MBps back then at 2015 was a pretty great deal.
