Shared network or a house of Viruses

Don't u ppl thaink that shared networks are houses of viruses :huh: "C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp>regedit /S yea.reg"Today, i saw the above command running autmoaticaly after i connected to net 🙁 what u say, as firewalls, decrease the surfing speeds.
 
It is very unsafe to use sify without a firewall. I don't think firewall does any harm to surfing speed. I'm using ZoneAlarm and it has blocked about 16,500 high-rated intrusions since past few months!
 
I think it is more like it is very unsafe to use any Internet connection (especially a broadband one with a static IP address) without a firewall.
 
Firewalls don't slow down internet ... if you feel a firewall is continuously accessing the net for updates, you can disable that feature. For a low resource intensive firewall either download kerio or zonealarm 2.1/2.6
