In a Shandong village, an elderly farmer has a fall. Her children immediately take advantage of the situation to declare that she is at death's door and try to get her put in a hospice against her wishes. While waiting for a place to become available, the doyenne stays with each of her children in turn, none of whom want to take care of her.
