Please suggest LAN card for BSNL connection. Also, can I connect using LAN on board an ECS motherboard? Though I plan to get a separate LAN card, I want to know if it is required to setup the connection?

Go for any card. D-Link performs well should cost around Rs450 . Also the port of ur mobo shud do fine but go for a separate one to be on safer side

yes, the card manufacturer doesnt matter...D-Link is costly..go for intex, surecom etc they wld be around rs. 200-250

yup. i bought D-Link for 275 last month. lan card does not matter. internal ones work fine but avoid them if your are on a lan based connection like sify.

Which OS do you have? I am using Intex LAN card which uses Realtek RTL8139. It's working fine and I bought it for just Rs. 187(including VAT). It's a very common chip and I dont have to do anything on my Win XP. It gets detected and no need of drivers or anything.

D-Link has introduced a special stripped down version of lan card for BBand connections. There is no bios chip socket etc. etc. 😉

There should not be any general problem with onboard lan chips. 😱
