YU does not recommend rooting. Does not provide warranty on rooted devices.

I could not find an official source that indicated that they launched with the promise of supporting rooted devices. But did find this.

We would like to inform you that we are not providing the support for rooting also we never recommend customer to root the device in case you root your device at that time mobile can be malfunction or PBA of the device get crashed.

Note: We are not providing the warranty for Android rooted devices

Honestly, Micromax tries to be bold but cannot handle situations when their sales go down.
Remember the time when one of the Canvas devices was remotely installing adware?

Didn't they fight with OnePlus to force OnePlus to build Oxigen?
I thought that meant all YU devices will come with Cyanogen OS.
Since the time Cyanogen went kaput only one new Yu device was launched.
 
Yup. Yureka, Yuphoria and Yutopia (not sure about this) came with Cyanogen OS. Later on they launched Yureka and Yuphoria with stock Android post breakup with Cyanogen. None of the devices got official Android updates via OTA. They later launched Yu OS program which was also a mess. Their supposedly stable Yu OS releases were highly unstable and they wanted us to flash it manually using fastboot method.
