RBI issuing new currency notes of Rs. 1

Issue of Re. 1 denomination currency notes with Rupee symbol (₹) and the inset letter ‘L’

The Reserve Bank of India will soon put into circulation currency notes in one rupee denomination. The notes have been printed by the Government of India.
These currency notes are legal tender as provided in The Coinage Act 2011. The existing currency notes in this denomination in circulation will also continue to be legal tender.

Overall Colour Scheme: The colour of One Rupee Currency Note shall be predominantly pink green on obverse and reverse in combination with others.

They were supposed to launch new ten and twenty rupee notes too iirc. God knows what happened to those plans.

Exactly, 10, 20, 50 notes are most needed then Re 1 note who probably nobody would be using.
