Most likely some malware was installed. Or they shared otp but money was transferred with rtgs so I guess hacker had more info. In case of sim swap one sim card should stop working.
Media love these sensational stories and don't bother doing any real investigation.
There was another story of some hacker harrassment a person in Mumbai. I couldn't find any video report or follow up about that.
