a tv service is planned since day one. it is likely to be iptv and not dth. i thought you needed a different license to operate dth service in the country? and buy satellite spectrum and shit? and it is highly restrictive. a set top box does not mean dth. iptv works through a set top box too.

All digital TV transmission needs STB, be it DTH, IPTV, Digital Cable or DTT. Although in Europe TV has inbuilt DTT tuner so DTT can be received directly by TV without need of STB.
This Reliance TV Service is in news since Ambani bought TV18 network.
