it is pretty cool for people who casually use twitter. it does not however solve any of the issues of the progressive web app. and adds an extra issue for someone like me.

for example, it does not add an icon to share to twitter when you try to share something from a third party app. you still need the primary twitter app.

and it removes the browser popup when you long press on a link. i use this functionality to share links to instapaper. i cannot do that inside this app as it does not do anything on long press.
 
i personally do not see it as a big problem. unless of course it becomes a trend to intentionally use more characters than required. this feature is going to be abused a lot more. they should have increased it slightly. so that it could fit in a few more words. by doubling, they are essentially allowing two tweets in one tweet which means that people would find it low enough to fit in the longer version of their tweet.
