Yeah it was posted officially on their website today but this speed was given to my friends for last one month. Why the massive sudden change? Jio Fibre effect? Will the plans stay or temporary only?

Hi ithehappy, I asked my cable operator last month & he said this is to comply with Central Govt's minimum 2mbps by 2020 rule even though they were yet to get the circular till last month. Its likely to stay but I think price hike will come at some point like before puja or in early 2018.

Great improvement, 5 times more speed without any hike is unbelievable. But ran into problems as my cable guy won't fix the actual cable regularly that would make my LAN work in 100MBps half duplex in normal mode. Instead the network only works in 10MBps & won't even work at auto negotiation. So peering part has little value after like 600kbps d/l speed :emoji_angry:

Thanks for your reply. Really enjoying 5 mbps speed, especially at this rate, really unbelievable. I thought this was about Jio Fibre, cause as far as I know they will bring UL plans at very cheap rate and at very good speeds too, definitely on par or more than 5 mbps, so probably Alliance is just trying to stay in the game. But whatever the reason be I will enjoy the speed anyway. Had their 980 PM plan where it was 2 mbps and 6 mbps at 1-8 AM, and I enjoyed that, and now this, well.....Even if the price hikes I hope it won't be more than 10-15%, it shouldn't be anyway.

Yeah as of now price will be same & they improved speed to compete with Jio. Heck I'm ok with the happy hour gone from the first 2 basic plans. Connection speed varies b/w 4.6 to 5.8 mbps in my speed checker. Google cache gives that extra bit 8mbps ok, ytube vids download @ 940 kbps...

Starter pack giving great speed today.

Hotstar speed is 12Mbps, peering speed slightly down perhaps but that's common(how do you test peering speed?). Several porno torrents came in like at 4MB/s :emoji_astonished:

Speed test came weird earlier

My dynamic ip was not of usual 103 class one, instead it was 116. class with ISP listed as some ISP from Delhi, not Alliance. Is that normal?
