my first post, living in surat and we have an isp called IQARA . this isp is operating in 10 citites. although it is having the regular isp problems like coverage issues, service issues, customer care ....blah blah..... majority of the plan are resonably proced with good speeds. it copied the bsnl 1 gb plan the moment it was public and launched it the same day too....and now when u go for bulk payments you get discounts up to 20% and all excess mbs are chared as per plan mb rate and not something like rs 2/-. altough the unlimited paln options still suck.... it gives a very good speed and u if you r lucky not to have building persmission and other issues, and if you can spend some money on getting a motorola docsis modem...then you might love these guys.... for more info try checking out www.iqara.net 🙂

Thanks for enlightening us about another service provider!!!The vast majority of us do not have any other option but to depend on BSNL for a Broadband connection. Due to the grace of almighty, till date their has not been any serious issues on quality of service provided by DATAONE in terms of PROS1. Data Transfer Speed. (Most of the time it has delivered more than what was promised, unlike many service providers!)2. Connectivity3. Down Time (As far as, I Know, it has failed due to server failure only two times in the night, which of course took time till next day morning to be rectified. It could be termed as teething troubles and would hopefully be rectified as the service develops further. The short service history of DATAONE is much much better than other service providers, were service failures are much more periodic.)4. Pricing (The service is most appropriately priced, @500 is dream come true for many of us who badly needed freedom from the rickety and shoody DIAL-UP which sucked in huge amount of money by way of telephone charges, without any satisfaction. The most wonderful part of it is that the prices are likely to crash further, ushering in a new era of affordable broadband to all. Just imagine but for the entry of DATAONE into the arena, the so called other "ISPs" would have continued to squeez the customers, keeping a vast majority of broadband aspirants out of the reckoning.)ISSUES1. Usage. (Usage of Broadband has been limited in terms of Data Trasfered. This has been a Bone of Contention between the Consumers and BSNL. Though, it seems that with the current infrastructure and bandwidth issues, their may be some constraints in offering "Unlimted usage". But surely they can consider the following.a) Enhancing data cap for day time usage.B) providing unlimited night time usage.2. Customer support and Service {Though the service till today has been a dream run for me, hence very little support was actully required from BSNL. But this is a area were a lot needs to be done to effectively combat the vicious propoganda being spread by some to malign such a wonderful service (atleast till now)}.I hope the deficiencies will be rectified and the standard of service will be further improved to usher in the real BROADBAND revolution in India. 😀

well, as per me, any connection is only "broadband" if it gives u "unlimited" usage in all the meanings of the word, apart from the fact that it should be of minimum 256 kbps speed... -_-

well... as per you it may be anything....but the fact is that broadband is evolving from the past few years....in some countries it has reached 1/2/3..10 mbps shared speeds... and we are reaching their at a snails pace... so right now we need to appreciate isp's who are moving in that direction....no point of dreaming up possibilites which are not going to change when we have big giants like BSNL, VSNL who are directly responsible for delaying the broadband revolution in india by using their network monopolies to avoid bandwidth price reductions and use of last mile by competition.... even in UK and Korea the networks are shared by many companys.....we need to privatise....thats the only way......just hope the govt opens the last mile to private players..that is when the true broadband revolution will take place ..till then not even reliance and tata's and airtels are going to seriously pump in money...to reach the common man....but serve only metros and the corporates......

well bud, i just said that in a nutshell...and u explained that...that we all know here 😛

Service!!! Service!!! Service!!!This is the thing most lacking among the entities in India, whether it is The Government, The Public Sector or The Private Sector.Profit!!! Profit!!! Profit!!!Is the buzz word among all the above entities. They may go to any extent to stifle any measure that may be consumer friendly measure, if it cuts there bottom-line.Opening-up the last mile of copper cable network and sharing of network infrastructure are the issues that exemplify the total disregard for public welfare in a so called socialist welfare state. 😱
