In recent tests, Nokia and China MobileResearch Institute (CMRI) successfully trialed a VR gaming application based on an AI-powered cloud RAN edge computing platform in CMCC Shanghai JiaDing 5G trial networks.

The solution is also being presented at MWC19 based on an open RAN architecture, utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to manage the extreme network demands of real-time VR gaming.
