upgrade is optional of course.in most cases iPhone is reverted back to factory settings so you do not end up with a dead phone.you would then have to use the approved at&t card.and well when u unlock it, you are inviting trouble anyways.
 
yeah the update just locks the phone again.anyways a person who has unlocked and went ahead and updated without looking if it makes his phone dead or not, is totally stupid. 😛
 
Ok. Now what will happen if this is put into practice on a wider scale. E.g. Intel selling microprocessors and chipsets that work only when Windows is installed. That is okay?

and maybe they will bring out chips which would work only for a specific amount of time after which it goes kaput. by that time microsoft would be launching a new OS and you are forced to buy a new chip with the new OS. :rofl:

hmmmm......the Apple update seems to have made unlocked iPhones unusable.
 
Apple does make hardware which only works with Apple Mac OS X. And they get hardware from Intel for doing that.
