i dont know about starting the connection.i guess u have to stay up.if u want to disconnect try atomic clock program.u can ask it to shut down ur pc sat at 7.45 am.i dont think that keeping the router power on counts as a connection if the pc is turned off.

you do need to turn of the router since your router is making the PPPoE connection..... shutting down your computer does not terminate the PPPoE connection, it simply disconnects the USB / LAN connection to your computer and the PPPoE connection stays alive....
