new policy no pings allowed

Hello,


If anyone who using nextra broadband service kindly post there results, me only or everyone who is using nextra

From one week I'm not able to ping any domain other then google DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
As per nextra broadband technical team they disabled the ping service and we are not allowed to use any third party DNS Service due to security issue.

Looks like they have blocked off ICMP forwards from inside to outside, except for certain hosts. Ask them and find out.

Same here. Cannot ping anything except google. I called and Customer Service people told me that there was an issue and it has been blocked temporarily. But it's been one week and still it is blocked. I manage servers in Datacenters in Europe and US, and it is a problem not being able to ping anything.

Very SAD almost month after contacting mails phone calls somehow I managed to contact there technical team who handle all these after two days network guy put me on different ip pool now everything is working fine, except no name server responding if use other then google pub dns 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4. or nextra DNS server ip, as per nextra due to some security reason DDOS attack we are not allowing any name server to respond you have to use google pub DNS... NOW we stuck no more DNS Caching allowed if anyone using pfsense build dnscaching unbound DNS work no more... check this url -- Nextra Third party DNS Block

I use smartdnsproxy dns for using Netflix/Amazon Prime US Versions and also for Hulu and Pandora at times. This will be deal killer for me. Now that I realize why the DNS were not working. Shucks will have to go to airtel now. 🙁

kumararvind, If same issue with you then no website will open, you have to use Google PUB DNS or nextra...DNS blocking is not TRUE internet, Nextra services are GOOD at my location Dwarka NewDelhi but one day I found my dnscaching unbound DNS stopped working.. Looking to switch to other ISP may be reliance JIO broadband but BIG NO to Bharti broadband

Exactly the same situation as me. I used SmartDnsProxy for Netflix as well but, like you, it does not work with my Nextra connection. Tried talking to the customer care but they were pretty much clueless.

Its just a shame since apart from this particular issue, Nextra is working without issues for me but this might be enough reason for me to switch back to Airtel if/when they offer better plans in our society.
