Want to downgrade from HDFC Platinum Debit Card

Since I'm no longer a fan of the platinum debit card as its very expensive and there is really nothing special about this card except the VISA logo. I want to downgrade to any normal regular debit cards. For that I was told by customer care to hotlist the current card and apply for the downgraded card from branch because if I apply directly from customer care, then I'll get the same platinum card reissued. In Net banking I see an option of Re-issuance of hotlisted cards (Previously had regular Rupay card hotlisted). Can that be used to avoid the hassle of going to bank again?
