Name mismatch on cheque query

An FD was opened with the name a person had before she was married.
The name changes after marriage. There is no ID proof left of the name before marriage. There is also no bank account left open with the same name. The last remaining bank account was closed few years ago which now feels like a big mistake...
FD matures and the cheque is in the older name.
Anyone here has any clue on what kind of documentation would a bank accept to process the cheque with the current name of the person?
 
Safest is affidavit saying XYZ was my old name and ABC is my new name,

Recently my cousin got it done in about 500-600Rs. (includes stamp paper cost / typing / notary cost etc.)
 
Or if manager of bank (where FD was) cooperates and understand the situation.

Then you may open account in the same bank with new name using old name cheque as opening amount.
 
Post Office account... 😡 Would try to get more details. Affidavit is not a big deal. Having a lawyer friend has some benefits.
