Idea 3G 900 launched in Pune

Idea launches first 3G internet expressway on 900 MHz in Pune and Nashik - Times of India

LOL..I experienced this when I was in Delhi..It is also having the same spectrum I guess..I'm not sure if a lot of phones support 900MHz WCDMA

Even with 900mhz in Delhi they got big coverage holes in few places.

Just checked on GSMArena, my Lumia 830 supports 900 freq band for 3G. My Micromax A1 doesn't supports 900 for 3G, but it does for 2G. What is difference? Does it mean Idea 3G 900 won't work in Canvas A1, but if Idea has 2G on 900, it would work on A1?

I didn't feel any different in Delhi..I mean I was getting the same speeds and coverage :/

Yo. If phone doesn't support wcdma 900, 3G on 900 MHz won't work on it. For 2G to work, a separate network on 900 MHz is needed, like Idea in MH.

Idea platinum 3G is not good in Delhi. I get only 1.5-2 mbps download with idea 3G 900. In delhi we can also latch onto Vodafone 3G with an idea sim. With vodafone 3G network I use to get 7-12 mbps.
I think 900 mhz spectrum get too overcrowded due to larger coverage per BTS thats why we get lesser speeds.
