I need to revive my Desktop (core2duo + 4GB DDR + 9400GT) that's its config which
is still enough for my web use.

Until now I've completely moved to using laptop 24x7 but recently I feel laptop is feeling the strain.

my personal one cannot take 6-8 hours of work I wish to do.

Office one cannot be used and only option I could think of is opting for SSD, run OS and my primary needed software (under 200MB) on it, few screenshots etc, and even a 128GB SSD would be enough for me, for storage I already have 2 internal 3.5 inch SATA drives giving enough if I ever needed
to dump store any data.

Looking for SSD, until now I was inclined towards
"Transcend TS128GSSD370S SATA 6.0 Gbps 128 GB Internal SSD"

but now I noticed Paytm also lists Crucial BX200 CT240BX200SSD1 SATA 6.0 Gbps 240 GB SSD

which is decently priced, and fits more than enough to my need and budget.

Why crucial, cause All the Linux servers I manage online for my company have been migrated by me to newer servers and somehow the 2 Largest Data Center we use put Crucial SSD's
They have along with other factors ofcourse have given best of performance and reliability.

Just curious to know if anybody here is using it ?

Admin Ji: pasted Link above, will buy it in a few hours, hope it goes thru your link 🙂

Found this

Transcend TS128GSSD25S-M 128GB vs Crucial BX200 240GB
Userbenchmark Effective SSD Speed: 19.6% vs 66.2%
Transcend TS128GSSD25S-M 128GB - 737th / 750
Crucial BX200 240GB - 317th / 750

Since yours is a core2duo, it will be using SATA 2 interface. In this case, go for ANY cheapest SSD you can find. Pointless to go for fastest drives when you are going to be limited by the SATA 2 interface at 3 Gbps.

Seriously, the pulled out HDD option looks very tempting.

HDFCEBAYC8 gives me this on ebay...
Order Total Rs.3,600.00
Shipping Free
Coupon discount -Rs. 288.00
Grand Total
Rs. 3,312.00

Looks very good, but should I save Rs.1500 or go for Crucial for Rs.4800
confusing.............

In real life, the difference will be a second or two, you wont notice it, I'd go for the cheaper option.

I checked it and found many forums have discussed this in detail.
there's also a software for SSD by Intel and it says nothing to worry about.

Given the price paid, I will retain this

On the other hand, I installed win7 on my SSD which is in Desktop and its amazingly fast, around 22 seconds from POST screen to a usable desktop, My computer opens like it was already open and just came to front.
Data from pen drive looks like copying from one partition to another.

so with a core2duo + 4GB RAM + 9400GT its more than enough of stamina, I just need to run 2-3 softwares so its not going to be a hurdle with 160GB of storage.

Time to grab a 32 inch full HD TV to start working on big screen.
