BSNL- Can I use my own ADSL modem?

I have a ADSL D-Link modem. The call centre tells me I have to buy / rent a modem from BSNL. The registeration form gives me the option to use my own modem stating they will only service hardware provided by them.Please can anyone advice if I can use my modem and not buy / rent a modem from BSNL?Thanks,
 
Well, all that I can say is I'm using my own ADSL modem [ D-Link 502T ] with DataOne. The form did have choice for a. Outright purchase of modem b. Rented modem c. Use own modem. 🙂Don't pay heed to the call centre guys. Just fill out the form and stay cool. 😀And do let us know when u get ur connection.
 
yeah, installation is quite easy if they do it properly at exchange coz, I took a month to sort problem in my place.
