Netflix issues

I have a BSNL 3G data card which I plug into my computer to surf the internet. The issue being, Youtube videos stream at around 5Mbps. However, the same internet connection, when used to access Netflix, does not work. Netflix just does not seem able to extract more than 200Kbps from my internet connection that can support upto 5Mbps. Any help, please?

could be a routing issue. google of course has better peering with indian isps.
also. are you sure you are not on the sd package?

netflix uses aws which again has good connectivity with indian isps which can not be said about bsnl.
on sidenote aws may have local servers by end of 2016.

yup. things can only improve from now on. i struggled to load a hindi movie on netflix chromecast. but a cartoon series loaded just fine. so it's more of a matter of how close the servers are through the routing used by your isp.

It appears to be a peering issue and it has nothing to do with AWS. Netflix uses AWS only to run the applications. Transit is provided by Level 3 which has a good rapport with Indian ISPs who are on the Airtel or Tata backbone. Not sure about BSNL.
