MTNL Mumbai MTNL Broadband works fine on Windows but not on Ubuntu

Hello everybody ...
I am new to this and i have a great problem .. I am using MTNL ADSL Broadband Connection in Mumbai .. I use ubuntu of Linux as my OS.. This ADSL connection doesnt work properly with ubuntu .. It browses internet very slowly sometimes .. and syncing a repository on terminal does not happen at all .. When i try to sync a repository in terminal, i get fetch errors and "could not resolve host port :some thing something" i get these request frequently .. I am on a 2Mbps connection and i want to use MTNL on ubuntu .. On windows the internet is perfect and works like a charm .. but in ubuntu its not working properly ..

Can someone help me figuring out this issue who uses MTNL ADSL connection in ubuntu ..

Ethernet .. wire comming from telephone to mtnl's adsl router den cable frm router to my pc ..

Are you using MTNL's DNS in Ubuntu?

I have just connected to my modem to pc via cable running on ubuntu .. In d network manager it shows "wired connection 1" since i am new to this .. I dont know about MTNL's DNS and etc .. So if you can guide me it will br very helpful to me ..

Follow this guide to switch to OpenDNS to confirm that it is not a DNS related issue.
