As part of the partnership, Airtel Digital TV -- the DTH arm of Bharti Airtel -- will offer the radio service on its iMusicSpace application, the company said in a statement.

The service has been launched on the DTH platform in association with Saregama and Timbre Media, who will jointly provide the content for the application, it added.

Any plans to launch in other DTH services or as a independent satellite radio service?.

i actually bought worldspace when it was operational. it was great at first because there were no private fm stations and bandwidth was scarce and all that. after a while it got annoying because it rarely played new music. and eventually they had radio jockeys eating your brains out. the basic concept of it was that it played only music. no ads no rjs. but that did not last for long.

The company cheated many subscribers, who invested in their proprietary radio sets. I had 2, bought one from Dubai for use in car with a roof antenna. People paid annual subscriptions and overnight, the company disappeared. No one to look into customer interests in India. they should not be permitted back, in my opinion.

righto. i remember the multiple telephone calls we used to get once our subscription was over. we refused to pay up. after a few months the company disappeared. i think i still have their antenna installed on my rooftop. the receiver is probably lying in some junkyard.

This was great at first ..then slowly ads started appearing and it went south after that. There was virtually no private operators on FM and AM and this used to play good music.

i thought in.com and gaana.com had their music streaming apps here in india? also... why would you need anything on your phone when you can carry your favorite music with you? i stopped using fm radio in my car years ago because of insane amount of advertising. now i just carry a 16GB pen drive and load it with all the new music i purchase/download.

My Music collection spans across 20+ GB. No time to create proper playlists.Prefer radio stations!I heard World Space has separate stations for old, pop, new music. Like that kind of demarcation and auto playing music

winamp in android with shoutcast radio works well in 2G to listen to all kinds world stations .country music, jazz, hip hop, slasa, tango, arabic stations. The trick is to look for stations playing below 64 kbps. ideally 24/32/48 kbps.

@androidfreakThanks a lot. Iam too old to keep searching for new options.....Xiialive has a much smoother /bold interface even though it is powered by Shoutcast radio engine.Listening to 181 fm country in my android (tethered to pc also). Goodbe winamp!!
