Windows 7 system restore

Hi,

I am using Windows 7 home edition. I have noticed that my settings have been changed for some weired reason by the system and I can no longer see the settings I had put in place such as desktop icons etc. I tried the system restore option but I only see today's date under the heading Date and Time in the system restore dialog box. I want to restore the system to an earlier date of my choice for example 1 Oct, 2011. But I am not able to do so. I have attached a screenshot of my pc exactly as it is for your reference. Can you please help me out, this is driving me nuts, thanks.

if you want to restore to your choice of date, then you must have restore point created at that time.to attach an image goto imgur.com and upload the pic there and post the blog link given there here

If your icons are missing and missing elements from start menu and all, then its an infection that has changed some registry settings.
