Hi Guyz,I recently got a windows 7 -64 Bit edition(Ultimate) original disk from one of my friend. It installed smoothly with no problem. The videos and games are playing really good. Expect for the fact that there is no sound :madness::wall:I have searched the internet for various drivers and was unable to find any compatible ones that would work.My Specs are Asus P5NMX- MoboIntel -E 2180 processor4got to mention that I have a 5.1 channel local sound card, It's a Intex make.I also checked it with the direct mobo output by disabling the sound card. It's not working. The card works fine with Vista 32 Bit and Xp 32 Bit.I even searched for Vista drivers, but failed in that attempt too. Checked with Asus website and there are no updates for 64 Bit windows 7 drivers..Any suggestions are welcome!!Thanks in advance!:wewin🙁Dunno if this is the correct thread to post this pbm.If not, I would be happy to repost this in the concerned place)

weird. i have used windows 7 on at least 4-5 configurations and in all of them it worked great out of the box without any manual drivers! and Asus motherboard should have the required support. 🙁

Yes, you are correct. It also worked in my friends computer. I have even reinstalled os a couple of times. But to no avail. I have been trying to find a solution for the past 2 weeks. Any ideas to contact Asus Support!!

I have original Windows 7 which was an upgrade by Dell. There are no drivers for it on the Dell website. I called CC , they told me to use, Windows Vista 32 bit drivers instead. It would work. Try to install drivers for 32 bit windows vista, or 64 bit Vista if you can get your hands on them. They should work!

PS- I specifically asked CC if I could install 32 bit drivers for Windows 7 64bit and they said yes. I am sure if it works for Dell it will work for you as well. Please tel us know the result, I am sure it will help others too.

@Admin I think it kind of works like Linux where if the 64bit version of a software is not available, it just makes the 32bit version work by using some 32 bit libraries.

Intex sound card will be a problem, find out what drivers your card is using with Vista 32bit when it works and try to install those drivers.

Tried the driver, Unfortunately no use.Contacted Microsoft regarding this. They took remote access and checked on the issue for 1 hour and to my astonishment, they turned me down to contact Asus as there was no driver updates on windows 7. They asked me to update the Bios. I do have the latest firmware. I even told them that I have it. At last, they asked me to contact Asus!

There are two major players in the sound card chipsets 1. Realtek2. C-MediaIf you have an on board soundcard then 99 % chances are that it has an realtek chipset. you can download realtek generic chipset drivers from their website. And most of the add ons PCI card have the Cmedia drivers you have to take a look at the PCI soundcard chip to have an idea about a particular model no.

@ kuljit_dhanoa You are extremely correct. The driver I downloaded from the Asus website is the one for Realtek 4 Vista 64 BitI am unable to find the drivers for C media driver!!
