Hello everyone,

This forum has been of immense help! Thanks. 🙂

Our 200 Mbps ACT connection is down and we were told that the owners of the location, where our ACT junction box was installed, demanded ACT to remove it. 😕

So ACT has two options for us now:

1. They could install the junction box at our place for free and waive Rs. 50/month for the electricity charges. We pay commercial rates for our electricity usage.

2. They could install the GX box which would be installed exclusively for us and so, have to shell out Rs. 2,000 (one-time fee).

In the long run, which one would you guys suggest in order to have a stable connection?

Thanks in advance!

Man, that's what I'm talkin' about! 😀

Now if I could just get a hold of the ACT guys to fix my connection that's been out since June 13! 😢

Does complaining at their Twitter help, Alfi? 🤔

Yes, you can tweet your complaint or call CC. If connection is down for long it might be due to cable cut..

Despite repeated calls to their CS, their reps just promise one thing or the other.

First they wanted us to pay Rs. 2200 for GX Box and once we did, they're looking for a GX Box!

Just tweeted.. Just like the common notion here, as long as we don't have an issue ACT service, it's the best in town.

However, if you run into issues, they're downright terrible to deal with! 🙁

I have the exact same problem Riser is facing. ACT is demanding 2200 deposit for the GX box. Some how I have managed them to accept it as refundable deposit.

And after all these issues my next billing due date as arrived, that I haven't paid as my connection is not working. Its already two days gone.

I have been an Act Giga user for more than an year. I live on the 8th floor of a high-rise apartment and they have drawn the fiber right till my home through the internal cabling of the building structure.
The GX box is installed within my apartment and I use my Orbi mesh router system with it. I constantly get speeds of upto 920-950 Mbps (symmetrical) (1 ms ping, 0 packet loss), but only on my high end Core i7 laptop with SSD with ethernet. Rest of the devices on 5 Ghz channel max out at 650 Mbps.
They didn't charge me anything for the GX box and I am yet to have a single minute of downtime since I started my services with them.

Two of my immediate neighbours on the same floor are on regular 150 Mbps connections through the junction box. They also receive the promised speeds all the time with a ping of around 3-5 ms with no packet loss.
So in my experience both the junction and GX boxes are doing their job just fine. With Gigabit connections a dedicated GX box is a must and they will provide you with it.

I have ACT 1 Gbps connection and they installed a Gx box for free. I suggest going for a one-time expense.
