Upload speed reduction over distance

Hello,

So I have an Airtel V-dsl connection and I have two issues I need help figuring out:
1) I see a lot of reduction in the upload speed when going out in distance (shown below). Is this unavoidable? I don't quite understand why upload speed should drop off so much when going further out. Can anything be done about this?
2) These tests were done using the "multi" option in speedtest. If I do a single thread test then the speeds are much lower (as shown below in the last test). Is this unique to v-dsl? And is there some way to avoid this too?
TIA

For example:

This is due to how TCP protocol works. See this answer that has better technical explanation... Why are network speed tests slower with further away servers? . You may get further answers if you search with the query... "speed test slow speed on longer distances".

Thanks for the info. I would have thought that after initial slow start and with multiple threads, the steady state bandwidth measurement would take it into account. But maybe not... It seems that bandwidth would be better measured at the IP layer then, but I couldn't find any online tools for it.
