Trying to use MNP to shift from Airtel to Vodafone

I wanna port my mom's phone number from reliance to vodafone .. But tht number is having a lifetime validity with expiry on something like 2017 .. Will it be possible to port the number or will reliance can reject the request stating its validity is for lifetime??

Definately you can port out from reliance. Lifetime Validity has nothing to do with Port In or Port Out 🙂
 
I guess airtel will tell him abt it.. not vodafone .. cos he is porting out from airtel ..

New form had been logged in @ Vodafone. So from now details will be available with Vodafone. Only if PORT Out request would have rejected, then Airtel needs to be contacted.

When i ported out from Airtel to DOCOMO i received SMS from tata docomo on the same day i filed the form. Same day received a call from so called 'RETENTION dept'.on 7th day evening i received the SMS from DOCOMO that my number will be ported tonight. at 9:40PM airtel sim gave me sim registration failed and at 10:00 PM i was on DOCOMO 😀
 
heh nope. this is more of a gamble that could cause me 6 months of frustration. i would change the number yet again if vodafone fails. 😛

you raised a valid point though, i should have purchased a vodafone prepaid sim just for testing alone 🙁

i am however expecting airtel to block my MNP request. 😀



make a manual search on your phone. First will be airtel..and then which ever has more signal will be 2nd and so on......do it 2 to 3 times.u will get a exact idea
put your phone in GSM

There is a option under MNP section of vodafone ivr to check the status of the porting request..I too ported from airtel to vodafone and checked my porting request frequently on cust care no.....
 
so what number do i call from a non vodafone mobile connection?

argh. we have no information about this number. 😕

talked to some vodafone guy. told me that i can call again once the seven day period is over. so i guess i would try again on wednesday.
