Hi everyone,

I am thinking of buying

TP-Link TL-MR3220 3G / 3.75G Wireless N Router (3G/4G Wireless N Router TL-MR3220 - Welcome to TP-LINK)

as a 3G wifi router from flipkart. It is the cheapest one there with price of ~1800/

Does anyone here have it? Do you like it? Any recommendations to not buy it? I will be using with bsnl 3g data card (teracom l273)

I think its best feature is:

[*]3G/WAN failover guarantees a sustained Internet connection
[/list]Comprehensive 3G/ WAN Back-up Strategy

The TL-MR3220 stands out with its 3G/ WAN connection back-up, which keeps users online when one connection fails. TP-LINK's 3G Router provides users with both 3G Preferred and WAN Preferred back-up modes, while other brands provide one or the other.

So suppose you have another internet connection in your house like DSL modem. You can connect the dsl modem to MR3220's WAN. When WAN connection stops, it will automatically switch to 3G.

The router arrived from flipkart. Initially, it did not detect the Teracom bsnl 3G modem. After I updated to the last firmware, it was able to detect the 3G router. Now, I set the my BSNL DSL connection as a primary connection and MTNL 3G as secondary connection. When DSL loses connectivity, it automatically switched to the 3G - took about 30 seconds for the failover. However, when connectivity was restored to the DSL, the failback wasn't that fast - it took mush longer; probably around 2 minutes. Overall pretty happy with the purchase. Lets see how long it lasts - the router is getting warmer than I would expect. Now, next thing is to figure out the tariff plans for the BSNL DSL and MTNL 3G. Currently, I have😀SL postpaid 1350/month First 20GB = 4Mbps, Beyond 20GB: 512kbpsMTNL 3G prepaid: on demand. I usually do a special (data) recharge of 20Rs when ADSL craps out which gives 250MB for a couple of days. Have to do this couple of times a week.I am thinking of reducing the DSL to 512kbps plan with a cost of 750/month and increasing the data on 3G.

I also have that router purchased last year in April...I also had similar problem.... but I just use mtnl 3G with no fall backs.... but that experiment I had done when I had DSL also... but yes you are right.... it was little buggy even with latest firmware...there is a latest firmware on TP-Link spain website.... I use that... that firmware is not available in the regular tplink website...

Hi,I purchased TP-Link TL-MR3220 router two day back. I have configured "WAN Preffered" as the setting. As said by Kallu, it is taking time for switch over between WAN to 3G or 3G to WAN (when 3G Preffered).Other major thing what I have noticed is, the router is getting over heated. Where by my BSNL connection's ADSL router - utstarcom wa3002g4 or Railwire Cable Modem will be warm and will not be so hot as TL-MR3220 is.Is this the nature of the router or is there something wrong in it.Regards,Anand

anandsesh, Mine gets hot too. I put a pen underneath it to help with the air flow. You could try keeping it on its side. One pretty serious issue that I have started seeing recently is that it hangs about every ~ 30 minutes or so and I have to power cycle it. Currently using it with 3G data card, no WAN. Anyone else seeing this issue?

Sure. I will try keeping some object below, which will allow more airflow below the device.Even mine got hung twice yesterday when I was doing some configuration change once and other time when it was trying to detect my 3G device. I had to power cycle it as you said.

The router has stopped detecting "Micromax 352G Datacard". It was detecting it fine for about 1-2 months but not anymore. I am not able to call its India customer service. No one picks the tollfree number. Extremely disappointed with TP-Link. I don't recommend anyone to buy this router.
