Pros:
I took a new Tata Photon max wifi device from docomo showroom today. connectivity is epic as always. i used photon plus last 3yrs. but recently i decided to go for other provider as they have better data plans. I used my friends data cards to test it in my area(avadi, chennai). by testing those providers data card i was'nt even getting more than 1mbps and mts didnt even go over 0.4mbps. so finally i decided to stay with tata and went to took a new max wifi set. im little outside city, im getting 3-5mbps all the time at this place.
Cons:
Customer service is Poor! most of the time they close the issue without resolving. couple of recent issues i have in mind below,
1. most recent issue, i took a new max wifi set for 2000rs today. but im a existing customer so im eligible for free upgrade with some deposit(which will be discounted from monthly bill). so i applied for a upgrade from photon plus to max. i got call from customer care 3weeks ago, they said their rep will visit me in 3days with device and i need to pay 1999rs as deposit. i said ok. i waited for 3week nobody came. 3days ago i got sms from tata as my issue was resolved. wtf? nobody visited or called me how can they resolve the issue without giving me the device.... so i got mad and went to show room today, i asked them for upgrade, they was'nt even sure if its possible to upgrade from photon plus to max. its a docomo showroom!!!! Then after asking around, other guy in show room said, he must be team leader or manager, it is possible to upgrade from photon plus to max, i will have to surrender the photon divice and pay 2000rs for new max set. but he cant assure me if that 2000rs will be discounted from my monthly bill, many customers complained that they didnt get monthly discount from upgrade. + i will not get free 8gb memory card for upgrade. i thought for few min, i didnt want to gamble that so i just took a new device and free memory card. now im stuck with 2 device...
2. two weeks ago i had a minor issue, so i called the customer care, he wanted to confirm my photon number. i have my photon number in noted pad, word and bill, and im a non alchoholic, and im pretty good with math and number, im 10000% sure this is my photon number, and im also sure it is not the account number or anything. i told the guy my photon number, he just said that number not exist, i took a min and checked all the documents again and told him the number, he againd said that number not exist. i told him maybe there will be problem in your server. he said sorry sir there is no problem in our side, number you said not exist and hung up the call.

So finally i think tata started to compete with other providers, now they have better postpaid plans, its not updated in their website, but in showrooms its available.
