Tata Docomo Roaming

Hello Friends,

I need some help and advice on a problem i am facing. I live in chandigarh but now for work purposes i have to go to delhi after every 10 days. I had vodafone but in chd 3g is not available. So, i opted for Tata docomo as it has good 3g plan and nice speed. I got 3g prepaid sim and paid 251 something for 1 Gb 3g data. When i moved to Delhi i was shocked to see that they don't have coverage and the data plans doesn't work. I mean i was charged for the data and i lost around 210 bucks. When contacted tata docomo they told me that its chargable but there was no proper answer and they told me that they can recharge my TD for 130 rs talktime as around 210 rs. Were gone frm my balance due to data usage. I was not aware of this so it really screwed my trip.
My first question is Why was i charged? I now know there is no TD in delhi but shouldn't they take care of that by payin the other networks which the phone catches in delhi. In my case it was Idea.
My second question is What is the best 3G operator in Chandigarh(pb) which is also good in roaming. I don't want Delhi sim because the base of my work changes to mumbai or kolkatta.

Please help and advice me on this.

I guess Reliance has 3G in both circles. Moreover, data packs are applicable on the parent network only, not on other networks.
 
By parent you mean if i use vodafone pb in vodafone delhi then the data pack is applicable. Sorry not much of a technology guy.

Data roaming is free only on Home Network. Means they won't charge you as long as you are on TD network.

Reliance and BSNL are the only operators in Chandigarh which are offering PAN india 3G if i am not wrong. Idea is also coming with its 3G service from coming June in Punjab.
 
@nick-D. You would have this issue as none of the operators provide 3g on pan india basis except bsnl. Bsnl offer some crappy service amd support on 3g in many of the circles. If you are on airtel or vodafone with 3g service available in your home location then you can roam with 3g service on either networks in pan india and your 3g pack will be applicable.

Rcom does not provide 3g pan india. They dont have 3g in south india at all

Why did you buy the docomo at the first place. You should have checked the reviews on web. Its now the worst service provider with no intentions of continuing the business further. It is up sale to vodafone.

Thank you all for the replies. Yes it was a dumb mistake to not check the reviews. Will be opting for reliance or airtel. The month is over soo 1 Gb data is already gone which i hardly used. Seems like airtel wins as it is almost everywhere. Thank you again.
 

again a mistake if u buy airtel sim from chandigarh as it wont have 3g anywhere.
for punjab your best bet is reliance for time being till idea launches 3g in few months in punjab aka chd
 
@igloo why would airtel won't have 3g on roaming especially in Delhi?
So do you advice me to wait for idea to launch in june or should i go for reliance? I can live with vodafone 2g for time being.
Does idea provide better 3g if compared to reliance in delhi or elsewhere?
 
Idea doesn't have 3G in Delhi. Rcom is the only operator that has 3G in both. Apart from bsnl/mtnl.

Better wait for some more months, idea has won spectrum in 900mhz band in delhi as well but would get spectrum in hand only after nov 2014 as airtel has to vacate the extra spectrum not won.
Formal launch will happen only first qtr of next yr.

Rcom can be very inconsistant with services in different geo, so take smart move.

I have a tata docomo 3g data pack but i am unable to use it in roaming.My balance is deducting Why?
I am currently roaming in rajasthan. I have already have 1 gb 3g data pack but it is not using it.Kindly help!!
