i had expect it to become free. 😀 though that is not going to happen as well. i am not sure if you remember remail. remail was one of the coolest email app on the Apple ios platform. google acquired it and then killed it. nothing ever happened to the awesome technology that powered that app. which makes me very sad.
 
I think they gonna merge it with Default Gmail app on iOS. Lets see what is going to happen with it. 😀
 
they did nothing with remail. remail was freakishly awesome. it downloaded your entire inbox in very little space and made it searchable through a very very fast search box.
 
I have no idea about remail 😛

well people who had/have remail installed could still use it. it was pretty awesome. there are some open source products using its technology. gmail had released some of the tech to open source community. i think some apps are still available on ios.
