Hi fellow Sify loathers!Since Saturday morning my net has suddenly decided to go AWOL on me. I am a mac user so I am using the Mac Dialler Client that those monkeys put together.. and lemme tell you.. it's the most shoddy piece of programming I have ever seen. But at least they have it for the mac so its better than nothing i suppose. Anyways, the dialler wont launch unless there is a proper net connection.. so i've been clicking on it and it just wont open. I've called up customer service like 50 times and they say the same thing.. I'm sorry sir, i'll forward your request to our technical team. LOL. ANyways, I havent heard from anyone.. so is there anyone here who can help me? My IP says i'm connected to the internet..but when i try pinging the gateway it says host is down. This is so frustrating! The dialer wont even open so I can even check out the so called troubleshooting section. SIfy has made my life a living hell.. it's only the consequences of the law that is holding my rage back!!Sincerely,Sify Hater

hey,it looks like a problem with ur tcp/ip configurationsask ur cto..becoz u shud b able to ping ur gateway...or check if da wire is connected properly to the lan card

You should always call your cto whenever you cannot ping your gateway.

sify guys deliberately blocked pings to sam server at my place. told me its to stop viruses.

I can't ping my SAM server too. The farthest my pings go is two hops after the gateway, after which they are dropped. I think it's Sify's policy everywhere to block pings upto and beyond the SAM server which means you can't ping anything of any use beyond your gateway. But yeah, Sify's Troubleshooter gets to ping the SAM server. It doesn't give the ping figures though.

Well i was never able to ping the Sam server....Do u do it this way???---> in Run box type"ping 202.144.58.38"If that's the way.....I was never able to ping my SAM.....

same here never used to wrk me im connected using switche's 🙁 , its helpfull as transmissions r protected frm other users, but i dont want that way 😛

So the way to make a LAN secure is to install a switch instead of a hub 🙂 .Which apparently not everyone wants  😛

My CTO uses hub, instead of switch.. I asked to use the switch..and the so called Tech specialist wont listen to me.. ( he says, that he has networked 30000 machines - don't teach me)How would my neighbor's react if I told them what they do the internet 😀

well just tell the the damn techie he wired them all wrng adn sue him for 30000 stupidified connections 😛 tell that sicko to get a life adn move on , we dont wanna hang on to baba addam techonology. gift him some books on netwrkin , give him tanenbaum (if he can read english that is) that will atleast tell him the basics 😛
