Hello everyone!
i hope am posting this in the correct section.
i have a Pantech Burst P9070 cellphone, bought recently, unlocked, and not rooted yet. till y'day, i was using wifi on the phone without a hiccup. however, since y'day night, although the phone's connecting to wifi, its not able to connect to the internet. the wifi signal is at full, but, the downward orange arrow besides it is OFF (which i presume stands for 'download'), while the upward green arrow is blinking. when i restart the wifi on the device, both the arrows blink momentarily, and then the orange one dies out instantly after that. in normal operation, both the arrows used to lit up.
upon some searching, i came to read that perhaps it could be IP-conflict issue. i have MTNL 450TC1 router. the PC has been assigned dynamic IP, and the phone has been assigned an IP address of 192.168.1.2. i checked the router's page, and in DHCP Pool Summary, it shows 192.168.1.2 as assigned to 'android', with the same MAC addr. as of the cellphone, and in the last column termed 'expiry', it shows - '0 days, 23:59:00'. i don't understand what's that. am thinking that perhaps i should assign a static IP to the PC and a static IP to the phone, but don't know how to do that exactly (had a failed attempt at it), and not sure whether that would solve the issue (i have tried restarting the router, factory-resetting the phone, etc., but to no avail; only things left to do are factory-resetting the router, and/or, downloading and installing apps like 'wifi-analyser', 'wifi connector library' to the phone).
would like to tell 1 more thing. after many days, i had run utorrent y'day and it consumed the whole bandwidth at full DL speed, and this was the time when my phone lost its responsiveness to the wifi, and its been in that state since then, regardless of whether my desktop PC is switched ON or OFF, or if its downloading anything or not.
please suggest what could be done to resolve this issue.
thanks!
EDIT/UPDATE: Hurrah!
i think i got the solution. it was indeed static vs dynamic IP thing. went to this page, saw the screenshot there posted by manu (he is a BBF member too), and instantly got the idea of ticking-in 'show advanced options' in wifi settings menu on the phone, and there it was! IP setting was set to 'dynamic'; i changed it to the opposite, and assigned a random IP address, and bingo!
sorry to bother you dear members! this Sunday has been a bit weird. had an issue with car in the morning where i was misinformed about it by a technician, posted about it on a forum seeking suggestions, and a while later came to know that the real issue was not at all what the earlier technician had told, but something else (told by another technician, who refused to come at first, but then came down later to our place later, after the former had left), and on that forum i had to reveal about the goof-up. but, leave all that aside! am happy now! 🙂
thanks for looking!
