Sify Broadband and SecureSynergy

A bit of Googling made me believe these two companies have business relations since sometime. And now Sify are taking this to next level by forcing every Sify Broadband user to install SecureSynergy software on their machines before they can connect to the internet.The problem with that to me is that... I cannot find I favorable report of anyone suggesting that SecureSynergy is anywhere near as good as popular antivirus softwares. So, I am being persuaded to install it after removing bloody reputed softwares like Norton Antivirus or even free softwares like AVG. They are already struggling to provide decent support to Sify Broadband users through their highly incompetent CTOs. Now that they are providing me PC Security... Does it mean they will provide me support in case my PC gets infected by viruses? Well, if they do... maybe I won't mind installing it over my current Antivirus. It will take off one headache of using internet! Sify would fix my PC incase it gets infected with a Virus... How cool is that! B)

hey.. i don't think the securesynergy software is reputed because well it uses the Mcafee Stinger software to scan for viruses.. and you can see on Mcafee's site .. they say that Stinger is just a tool for searching for existing viruses on your computer and cannot be depended upon to prevent an infection.. they say themselves that It is not a substitute for a full antivirus program[/b]

heh. idiots. 😀 and they recommend uninstalling softwares like norton antivirus and avg! 😀 i bet they have not heard abt nod32 and kaspersky antivirus.

i know.. and do you know the worst part of it all? they claim that it is worth Rs 1500 whereas Stinger is .. wait till you hear this.. FREE .. anyways Secure Synergy is selling that product in India.. I think these people think that Indians are fools or something..

anyway i got my Norton Antivirus 2004 back after calling the customer care center and guess what the leading antivirus program that Sify provided me with let 7 viruses slip past GASP!! I wonder how many would have infected my computer if i had been using an 'inferior' product such as my Norton

What is the procedure to disable "Secure"Synergy? The customer care number just doesn't work! 1904..something.

The people on the third number didn't know anything about the antivirus. They sounded so confused and surprised when I asked about it like I was talking about growing horns on a donkey's head. lol.

Which one am I supposed to call? Any clue.
BTW, you used to be on my friends list on LJ, until we had a disagreement.. I think. Don't exactly remember.

yeah i remember you from LJ. and i can be a bit cynical at times. not to worry... the first number is the one you have to call. but i doubt u can get through this time of the night... try tomm morning or afternoon. and tell them you want to install the login client but dont want the antivirus option. 🙂

Am surprised by your views...i have been using Sify's service for sometime now and am very satisified with the Anti-Virus they have provided...have had no problems...better than the rest
